As a parent you’re legally responsible for making sure your child attends school. In some cases, we (the council) can offer some pupils travel assistance between home and school. You can find out more on this page.

Special educational need or disability (SEND) home to school travel support - academic year 2023/2024
If your child has a special educational need or disability (SEND) or has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), they may be eligible for travel support to their education setting.
If your child will be getting home to school travel assistance for the first time, the council’s SEND team will contact our Independent Needs Assessor. We will then contact you as soon as possible to explain the type of travel assistance your child will get for the academic year 2023/2024.
If your child currently gets our SEND home to school travel assistance, and this will be continuing from September 2023 onwards, we will send you any updates about their travel assistance during July or August 2023. We’ll write to you at the address we currently have on our records.
If you have any questions about your child’s SEND travel assistance please get in touch by emailing transport@middlesbrough.gov.uk.
