Brook, the UK’s leading sexual health and wellbeing charity, is delighted to announce that it is delivering the C-Card condom distribution service in South Tees.
The C-Card scheme is a service for young people aged 13-24, providing them with access to free condoms through a range of outlets throughout Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland.
The C-Card scheme is an important part of Brook’s mission to support young people to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing.
By providing young people with free access to condoms, Brook is empowering them to take control of their sexual health and make decisions that are right for them.
Brook already deliver a number of services throughout South Tees, including relationships and sex education in schools, outreach, chlamydia screening and training for professionals working with young people.
As well as offering in-person C-Card registration for young people aged 13+, Brook also provide online registration for those aged 16 and over.
Once registered, young people will be able to access free condoms from a variety of sites including colleges, schools, youth centres and pharmacies.
Those aged 16 and over will also be able to order condoms online and have them delivered by post.
Brook will also be providing training for organisations to enable them to become C-Card distribution sites.
Rebecca Shutt, Head of Education at Brook, said: “We are delighted to be delivering the C-Card scheme in South Tees.
“Young people are one of the groups that are most likely to be diagnosed with an STI, but by giving them free and easy access to condoms you can help stop the transmission of infections and ultimately improve health outcomes.
“Brook is well established in South Tees, as we already deliver relationships and sex education in schools throughout Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland.
“We believe that with our understanding of young people’s needs, coupled with our networks in the area, Brook can support even more young people to confidently manage their own sexual health and wellbeing.”
