Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke has today named his Executive team.
Mayor Cooke was elected last week and officially took office on Tuesday.
The new Executive members will be responsible for overseeing their subject areas and will join the Mayor in becoming the public faces of Middlesbrough Council.
Mayor Cooke will also be Executive member for Adult Social Care & Public Health.
Cllr Philippa Storey is the town’s new Deputy Mayor and will also be the Executive member for Culture and Education.

- Cllr Zafar Uddin – Executive member for Children’s Services
- Cllr Janet Thompson – Executive member for Community Safety
- Cllr David Branson – Executive member for Environment
- Cllr Nicky Walker – Executive member for Finance & Governance
- Cllr Theo Furness – Executive member for Regeneration.
Mayor Cooke said: “I am really excited to be announcing my Executive team.
“They are all dedicated to making sure services improve and they will take ownership of their portfolios.
“We will make sure the Council has a clear plan and strategy in place. Over the coming days and weeks I will be working to ensure there is clear direction to improve services for residents.”
Chairs of committees including those making important decisions on planning and licensing will be decided by votes at the Council’s Annual General Meeting on May 24.
