The Data Protection Act 2018 allows Middlesbrough Council to consider requests for personal data from other organisations under specified 'exemptions, for example for 'crime and taxation purposes', 'in connection with legal proceedings', or 'immigration purposes'.
Please note, we're not obliged to comply with these requests, and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis in line with the requirements of the law.
If you apply to ask us to exempt a request from the data protection requirements, you must complete and submit a 'request for disclosure of personal data' form. To help us to respond effectively, please make your request specific, be clear about the exemption you're requesting, and where applicable, tell us the lawful basis that you'd like us to consider.
Requests from individuals for their own data should be made under the right of access (subject access request). Find information about your individual rights.
