Register a food premises or feed establishment

A food business is anyone preparing, cooking, storing, handling, distributing, supplying, or selling food. All food businesses must be registered with the council, including restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops, canteens, and market stalls, as well as temporary premises like mobile catering and food delivery vans.

Even if you do not make a profit from the food (for example, a charity), you're still classed as a 'business' and you must register.

Some food businesses need specific approval before they start trading, for example businesses which make foodstuffs containing animal products.
